The Benefit of Stores Online to Busy Mothers

Dec 23rd, 2011 Steve Albright

As a parent of two young children, going anywhere is an all day event in itself! The day begins with enthusiasm and patience, an organized diaper bag thoughtfully prepared for such emergencies as spills, bacteria, wardrobe changes and boredom.

During the drive, imagination is thriving. We sing made up songs to soothe the baby. We play the color game, we listen to "girl songs" and it now feels like mommy brought her A game by conducting a pretty smooth start to the day. I no longer feel like I have to snag a job that allows me to be creative because I already have it!

Knowing that countdown to child meltdown begins upon entrance into the stores doors; I had researched stores online to find the place with the best prices. In this economy, everyone is pinching pennies, clipping coupons and looking for the best deals in town.

Parents buying formula, diapers, and in my case non-dairy food items for an allergic child, groceries and toiletries are huge expenses. Like everyone, I try to find the best possible price. So, viewing different stores online to see what sales and specials they offer at the specific stores I buy from is a huge time saver. And we parents want to avoid a child meltdown by staying too long in the store. Maybe I could snag a job writing "quick and easy routes for busy mamas" for examples of smoothly running days of errands.

Walking through the aisles, my five year old is wooed by every toy and accessory marketing scam displayed throughout the store. This brings forth a barrage of questions like, "can I have this, how about this, ok...just this."

It's about now that I begin losing focus because about every minute or so I am being asked another question and the baby is starting to fidget and whine. I stop to address the whining situation on both ends. I try to redirect her attention to finding the items on my list. Being mama's little helper has brought some tranquility back to the mood of mommy's marketplace mission.

I am holding a bottle in my son's mouth and using one hand and one foot to steer this not nearly finished shopping cart. We start off our "fun for them" wild, silly mad dash to finish the list. The kids are letting out giggles and screeches. We stand in line waiting for the cashier while my daughter peruses through the "don't forget your batteries, Chapstick and little Cinderella doll?" display.

Quickly I hand my debit card to my five year old to pay the cashier! Dodged that bullet before it was fired! Although these are life's little moments that help grow wise and resourceful parents, I might shop at stores online from now on.
